Getting started with Downloadable Audio Books from

System requirement

List of supported devices.

• Audiobooks can be downloaded or played on any personal computer or portable listening device that supports Microsoft Windows Media Player v9 and above, Musicmatch Jukebox v8.2 and above, or Nullsoft Winamp v5 and above
• NetLibrary’s Audiobooks can be listened to on a wide range of portable devices, including portable music players, portable media centers, Pocket PCs, and even select smartphone devices. Make sure device supports playback of at least 32 kbps files with minimum storage capacity of 256 MB to store the average CD quality audiobook file of 140 MB.
• To have an optimal experience when listening to a NetLibrary eAudiobook, it is recommended that you select devices that support features such as bookmarking and full time stamping
• Some of manufacturers who manufacture such devices are as follows:

Registration Process

• Click on the icon from the Osterhout Free Library home page
• Type in the barcode on the back of your Luzerne County Library System card to go to the NetLibrary database
• Go to Creat a Free Account link on the upper right corner from the NetLibrary home page.
• Create an account using user name and password.
• Second time onwards you can Log In before entering the Audiobooks Center
• If you do not Log In before choosing the Audiobooks Center, you will be required to enter the same user name and password every time you want to download the book.

Downloading the Audiobooks on PC or Laptop and then trasfering them to an portable device

• After creating an account click on Audiobooks Center
• Choose the book of your choice
• Click on Download this Book
• If you are planning to listen to the book using portable device choose Check out and Download CD Quality. If you are planning to listen to the book on your PC choose Check out and Download Radio Quality.
• Open the downloaded book using any of the recommended media player software and transfer it to your portable device.
