From PA Turnpike:
Take
exit #105 for Wilkes-Barre.
Turn left at the STOP sign onto
Route 115 North. Route 115
becomes PA 309 North. On
309, take exit #3 for
Plains/Wilkes-Barre. At
the exit take a left on North
River Street. Go through 7
traffic lights on River Street.
After passing the Market Street
Bridge take a left on
Northampton Street. Take
another left at the traffic
light onto South Franklin
Street. The Osterhout Free
Library is located in the second
church building on the left.

Route 81 North or South:
Take exit 170B for Wilkes-Barre/PA
309. Take exit #3 for
Plains/Wilkes-Barre. At
the exit take a left on North
River Street. Go through 7
traffic lights on River Street.
After passing the Market Street
Bridge, take a left on
Northampton Street. Take
another left at the traffic
light onto South Franklin
Street. The Osterhout Free
Library is located in the second
church building on the left.

From Tunkhannock and
Dallas:
Take PA 309
South. Take exit #3 for
Plains/Wilkes-Barre.
At the exit take a left on North
River Street. Go through 7
traffic lights on River Street.
After passing the Market Street
Bridge, take a left on
Northampton Street. Take another
left at the traffic light onto
South Franklin Street. The
Osterhout Free Library is
located in the second church
building on the left. |

Parking:
Parking is available in the
BOSCOV'S Department Store parkade, which is across the
street from the library and
further up the block. BOSCOV'S offers
one hour
of free parking to the library
visitors. You can get your
parking ticket validated at the
circulation desk. Parking is
free is for 3 hours if you make
a $2 purchase in the store. If
you don't purchase anything it
is 60¢
per hour.
Another parking lot may be
accessed by continuing straight
on Northampton Street, instead
of turning at South Franklin
Street. The lot is on the left
side of the street just past the
traffic light. This parking lot
charges 70¢ per hour. The
library is across the street
from one edge of the lot.
You may
also find street parking at the
meters in front of the library.
Their rate is 371/2 minutes for
25¢ with a 2 hours maximum. |

Take Northampton Street, going
east, to the
light at Wilkes-Barre Boulevard.
Turn left onto Wilkes-Barre
Boulevard and go through 6
traffic lights. You will pass
under the Cross Valley
Expressway. The library
is 1/4 mile on the right, across
from the Hollenback Fire
station and before the Turkey
Hill. |

Directions from the
Central Branch:
Go north on South
Franklin Street and turn left onto
Market Street. Turn right onto
North River Street. You will
pass the courthouse and General
Hospital. When you
approach the overpass of the Cross
Valley, get in the right lane to
continue north (do not
take the ramp to the Cross
Valley). When you are through
the underpass, you will now bear
right onto Maffett Street, which
eventually becomes
North Main Street. Proceed on
North Main Street through the
traffic light and the Plains
Branch is located in the
Municipal Building on the
left-hand side, across from the
Methodist Church at the top of
the hill. |

From the Central Branch:
Take Northampton Street,
to the 4th traffic light, which
is Wilkes-Barre Blvd. Turn
right on to Wilkes-Barre Blvd.
At the 2nd traffic light turn
left onto Hazle Street.
Proceed up the hill, and at the 2nd traffic light
(the 2 lights are very close
together), turn
right onto Stanton Street. Pass
the STOP sign and watch for the library is on
the left at the next corner (Stanton and Airy Street
) before
Fred's garage. You may find
parking on Stanton Street, or
make a left on Airy Street. |
